Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, when managed by professionals. This form of hormone therapy has been effectively utilized in the USA since 1938 with numerous studies worldwide documenting its benefits and safety.
Bio-identical hormones are lab-created hormones derived from natural sources, such as plants, designed to replicate the molecular structure of hormones naturally produced by the human body.
We will not bill your insurance but we can provide a form to give to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement. Insurance may cover testosterone injections for men if levels are below a certain threshold (often 300 ng/dL). Coverage varies by provider, so you will need to check with your insurance.
We’ve had patients notice improvements as early as a few days or within 4–5 weeks. Every person is different and every symptom will start to improve at a different time. Pellets metabolize over a period of about 3 months for women and 6 months for men. Vaginal suppositories offer localized relief and are typically used daily or a few times per week.
Men with a recent history of prostate cancer may need to wait about a year before starting BHRT. Women with a history of endometriosis are typically advised against estrogen therapy. Each case is unique, so a personal consultation is essential to determine candidacy.
There’s no specific age to start BHRT—it depends on your hormone levels and symptoms. We’ve treated patients as young as 30 with low testosterone. If your levels are low and your symptoms are significant, you may be a candidate. During your consultation, we’ll assess your hormone levels and concerns to ensure we’re addressing the right issues and providing the most effective treatment.
