Dermal Fillers & Biostimulators
Aging is a part of life—but, getting older doesn’t have to mean looking older. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and other hydrating properties that make our skin look young and full. Weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, and everyday facial movements can contribute to wrinkles and fine lines. But with dermal fillers and biostimulators at Allure Wellness, you can preserve your youthful skin and experience a newfound confidence in your appearance.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectables most commonly made with varying formulations of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it binds to water molecules in your body and draws them into the skin to keep it hydrated, soft, and supple. By doing so, it gives skin a youthful appearance.
What Are Biostimulators?
Biostimulators are injectable treatments that improve skin texture and volume by stimulating the body’s natural regenerative process. They help increase collagen and elastin production—two essential proteins that keep skin firm, smooth, and resilient. Results appear gradually, offering natural rejuvenation over time.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Dermal fillers are made of a gel-like substance, and they are injected just past the first layer of skin and into the tissues beneath. They replace hyaluronic acid that’s been lost due to aging. You can think about fillers as a supplement for your face. In the same way that supplements are meant to recover what’s lost or deficient, dermal fillers are meant to replace the hyaluronic acid in your skin that’s lost as a result of aging.
In some fillers, the hyaluronic acid formulations can cause small amounts of water in your body to be pulled to the area where the injection was placed. This effectively rehydrates, lifts, and plumps problem areas, restoring the tissue beneath the skin and giving it a fuller, younger appearance.
How Do Biostimulators Work?
Biostimulators work from the inside out, encouraging the body to produce more elastin and collagen over time. Similar to dermal fillers, biostimulators are made of synthetic formulations like poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) in Sculptra® or calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) in products like Radiesse®. As the microparticles from biostimulators are absorbed into the skin, they activate your body’s natural collagen production with results that can last up to 2 years. As your body produces more elastin and collagen over time, results may take weeks or months to fully develop, with longer-lasting improvements in skin texture.

What Areas Can Be Treated?
Dermal fillers are commonly used to restore volume and enhance features in areas like the cheeks, chin, lips, and nasolabial folds (the lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth).
The biostimulator Radiesse® is ideal for treating deeper facial lines and areas affected by aging, including nasolabial folds, marionette lines, the corners of the mouth, pre-jowl folds, chin wrinkles, and the backs of the hands.
The biostimulator Sculptra®, made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is well-suited for addressing broader volume loss—such as hollow temples, sunken cheeks, and fine lines and wrinkles across larger areas of the face.
What Are the Benefits?
Whether you’re looking to plump your lips or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers and biostimulators are beneficial beyond just boosting your skin’s appearance
Immediate Results
Unlike other products, the results of dermal fillers and certain biostimulators can be seen as soon as they’re injected.
Promote Collagen Production
Biostimulators activate and restore your body’s natural elastin and collagen production, keeping the skin firm, supple, and elastic over time.
Reduce the Appearance of Scars
Fillers also reduce the appearance of scars. They do this by filling in the crevices of the scars and making them less apparent.
Quick and Easy
A typical dermal filler or biostimulator session usually requires about 15 to 45 minutes of your time, making them easy to get done as a quick appointment during the work week.
Easy Recovery
After a dermal filler or biostimulator session, you can carry on with many of your usual activities with little to no downtime needed.
Confidence
Because biostimulators gradually regenerate your body’s own production of elastin and collagen, you’ll see wrinkle-smoothing results for up to 2 years.
Dermal fillers and biostimulators meet more than your aesthetic goals—they help both the body and mind. By boosting collagen production and promoting self-confidence, patients can leave our office reminded of their own allure.

Dermal Fillers at Allure Wellness
Step 1: Assessment
Your provider assesses the area you want injected to ensure proper placement and safety.
Step 2: Cleaning and Numbing (Anesthetizing)
The injection site will be sterilized for the procedure. You’ll receive a numbing agent after your skin is cleaned to ensure the procedure is pain-free.
Step 3: Injection
The filler or biostimulator is injected into the area using a fine needle or cannula to minimize pain and target specific areas. The entire in-office treatment should take about 15 to 45 minutes from start to finish. This timeframe may vary depending on the location.
Step 4: Recovery
Your injector or provider will clean the area again and reassess the skin to ensure that you tolerated the procedure well and that it meets expectations.
Step 5: Healing
The healing process may take a few days after your injections are complete. Otherwise, there is no downtown, and you’re able to resume most of your usual everyday activities. However, it’s recommended to avoid strenuous activity for the remainder of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, dermal fillers can be removed depending on their type. Temporary fillers that are hyaluronic acid-based can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Some hyaluronic acid-based fillers are also absorbed naturally by the body over time without intervention. Permanent fillers require surgery for removal.
In general, dermal fillers and biostimulators do not hurt. Clients receive numbing agents before their injections to ensure they do not feel any discomfort during treatment. It’s common to feel mild “pressure” during the procedure, but it’s easy to bear. Post-procedure, people complain of slight discomfort after the numbing agents have worn off. The discomfort can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and ice to the affected areas.
Typically, each syringe of “filler” is about 1 mL. The amount of filler you get depends on the filler location and your aesthetic goals. Smaller surface areas require less filler, while larger surface areas may require more filler. Your injector will consult you on the best amount for your desired look.
The main difference between dermal fillers and Botox is their intended purpose. Dermal fillers are applied for volume enhancement, while Botox is applied to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Botox paralyzes muscle movement where it’s injected to prevent wrinkles. Dermal fillers are used to increase volume in problem areas.
