What is Skin Resurfacing & Skin Rejuvenation?

Skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation are non-invasive or minimally invasive procedures that remove or improve the outermost layers of skin that have been damaged. These processes help the skin heal itself by producing new layers of skin and repairing old damage. This improves the skin’s natural texture and tone to achieve the luminous skin everyone deserves. Opus Plasma | Genesis (IPL) | Microneedling | Chemical Peel (only VI Peels) | PRP

Opus Plasma

Using the Alma Opus Plasma device, non-invasive plasma energy is applied to the skin through radio frequencies. This process creates intentional microscopic injuries that trigger the skin’s natural healing processes including the stimulation of collagen production.

Genesis (IPL)

Genesis is an advanced skincare treatment that uses a pain-free, non-invasive, laser to reduce the appearance of several skin concerns. The laser is heat-based and uses intense pulsed light to work beneath the skin’s surface to target damaged tissues and kill bacteria.

Microneedling

This procedure uses tiny needles to create microscopic injuries across the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. This signals the body’s natural healing processes to increase the production of collagen and elastin, sending new cells to repair the intentional wounds

Treats the Following Conditions:

Acne scarring, dry/rough skin, stretch marks, fine lines, and wrinkles.

VI Chemical Peel

Vitality Institute Medical Products developed this effective, mid-depth chemical peel to permeate the epidermis and positively affect the underlying dermis. The chemicals in this peel work by exfoliating the top layers of the skin while encouraging the production of new proteins. This process is relatively gentle so it can be safely used to treat the face and parts of the body like the chest and hands.

Fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, hyperpigmentation, acne, melasma, and other pigmentation inconsistencies.

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is collected by drawing a patient’s blood and using a centrifuge to separate the richest parts of the plasma. These platelets are then put into syringes for direct injection into the face and body. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing processes to repair and replace damaged skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Skin Resurfacing?

You may be an ideal candidate for skin resurfacing if you suffer from uneven skin tone, acne scarring, signs of aging on your skin, or even spider veins or stretch marks. With our wide range of treatments, our talented and caring staff would love to consult with you to decide the best plan of action for your individual skin needs.

Is Skin Resurfacing Painful?

Most skin resurfacing treatments are not considered painful. However, you may feel slight stinging sensations, especially from laser procedures. Chemical peels may cause mild discomfort as the top layers of skin slough off. For many of our procedures, topical anesthetics are available to help reduce pain.

What is the Recovery Time for Skin Resurfacing?

The time required for your skin to fully recover will vary depending on which procedure best suits your skin’s needs. However, actual downtime from normal activities is little to none. Microneedling is usually a quick recovery treatment, requiring only a few days to a week for redness and bruising to heal. Our VI chemical peels require a minimum of one to two weeks of recovery time. Laser treatments (Genesis and Opus) allow you to immediately return to normal activities and fully recover within one to two days. All treatments should be followed with vigilant sun care, including sunscreen and hats if needed.

Which Skin Resurfacing Procedure is the Best?

Laser skin resurfacing treatments tend to relieve the most significant skin damage. However, this does not necessarily mean they are the “best” treatment for you. Less in-depth treatments like microneedling and chemical peels may be best for you if you suffer from minor skin damage.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Results from skin resurfacing laser treatments last anywhere from three to five years. Skin improvements made using chemical peel methods can last from two to six months. Results from microneedling typically last around six months, but with the addition of PRP, those results can last up to 18 months.

Is There Special Aftercare for These Procedures?

With all skin resurfacing procedures your provider will ask that you wear sunscreen and a hat if you are going to be exposed to the sun in any capacity. This is very important to avoid sunburns and redamaging your skin as it will be very sensitive while healing. Continuing your regular skincare routine is typically okay, but you’ll want to make sure you aren’t exfoliating during the healing process and use gentle cleansers and products.
